i’m giving shrek 2 a straight 5/5. it’s 2025 and this isn’t even a meme—this is legit one of the best sequels ever made. it took everything from the first movie and just flexed on it with better animation, more bangers, and elite world-building.
the new characters are a total power move. antonio banderas as puss in boots is absolute peak—he brings this suave, high-intensity energy that completely steals every scene. and jennifer saunders as the fairy godmother? she is the literal blueprint for a girl-boss villain. her 'holding out for a hero' sequence at the end is a total cinematic mic-drop. it’s 2025 and that cover still goes harder than the original.
the visuals are a massive flex. the city of far far away is basically a satirical version of hollywood, and the way they parody every classic fairy tale is pure genius. it’s smart, cynical, and actually funny for both kids and adults. plus, the chemistry between mike myers, eddie murphy, and cameron diaz is still 10/10 vibes.
the final act where they storm the castle with a giant gingerbread man is pure adrenaline. it’s high-stakes, hilarious, and visually sick in the 4k remaster.
overall, it’s a perfect 10/10. it’s a movie that actually has some 'balls' and doesn't play it safe. if you somehow think the first one is better, you're trippin'. this is the one
