Dune: Part TwoTim LangfordGold9.7· March 8, 2024FollowLike Titanic before it, Dune: Part Two will live on not because of its spectacle, but because of its love story. The sandworm sequence will last many viewings, but the way Zendaya's lip quivers in the final shot will last a lifetime. Also like Titanic, a sweeping and tender score can reverberate for hours inside the favorite parts of your heart until you're getting drunk over a keyboard trying to recapture those feelings and splay them out as best you can for a rainy day. The second viewing clarified so much for me, and all for the better, confirming this is a that movie. It seems not a line was wasted, not a shot askew. I’m a Greig Fraser fan again. I liked Walken. The pacing was perfectly attuned, from the lovely “learning the Fremen ways” first act (evoking Avatar: The Way of Water as a recent example), to the charming villainy of the second act, ending with the bittersweet thrills and anguished consequence of the third act. I just really think James Cameron loves this movie.1CommentsSign in to react and join the conversation.Sign inGet the appSee all Tim's reviews for Dune: Part Two (2)First watch9.7March 2, 2024Rewatch 19.7March 8, 2024
