Boyhood
Rewatched this for a project i'm working on and it was an incredible experience.
It's in my top 4 all-time, and it remains there all these years later.
a film that seemed practically tailor-made for me at 18 takes on a whole new profound meaning to 28-year-old Josh. I have a feeling I'll have to make this a ritual to watch this film every ten years.
There's not much more to add, it's a personal favorite that hits me for reasons it might not hit others--I find this film can be divisive.
while not everything may "work" (some shoddy child performances at times), it's a film that sneaks up on you, and by Patricia Arquette's final scene and Mason driving off to college, it's so hard not to be swept away by everything you've just watched.
I truly love this film and will love it forever.
The part that hit me this go round was Mason Sr. saying, "What's the point? I mean, I sure as shit don't know. Neither does anybody else, okay? We're all just winging it, you know? The good news is you're feeling stuff."
