Gravity
Seriously believe this is the antidote to about 90% of complaints about blockbusters made today. To even think that in 2013 we had an artfully directed, critically adored, visually groundbreaking, intense as all hell, original studio tentpole (from Warner Bros. no less) that was a survival thriller set in space with two full-blown movie stars playing regular people that was only 90 minutes long and made buckets and buckets of money. But noooooo, we all collectively had to call it overrated and be snarky about it after a few months because we just couldn’t see the gold that was right there in front of our eyes and were way too excited about our nerd franchises thinking they could really last forever. We really blew it.
Anyways, this movie is still incredible. Even on a smaller screen it plays perfectly. I get the complaints about the dialogue being clunky but everything else is just so masterfully orchestrated and executed.
