Bugonia
Two hillbillies torture a ceo, and after that she proposes to circle back to the dialogue. Corpo talk so detached you’d think she’s an alien based off that alone.
The acting from the main cast was good, as you’d expect. It was enough to keep me engaged, at least. Some of the side and minor characters didn’t do it for me. The fat fuck Stavros was off putting, not sure if that was the intention. Talk about bad blood, only two interactions, one was an greeting and he was slimed after the second one. Also the news anchor lady was downright comically bad, what the fuck was up with that delivery? The script too, sounded like what cartoons think news reports are like.
I’m not really sure who this film is supposed to be condemning. Frankly I’m not even sure what the message is. Like who’s the bad guy here? I’ve always been bad at reading subtext. Or maybe I’m just approaching this the wrong way searching for a well-defined bad guy. By all accounts it’s the CEO. But then it turns out humanity is? The film can be quite grotesque but that all seems to be a distraction from the fact that it doesn’t ever seem to commit to anything. Other than a flimsy ‘humans are bad’ message…which uhh I guess? It feels like throwing your hands up in the air and going “Welp, we’re all awful, looks like we can’t do anything about it!”. Which kind of loops back around to saying nothing, ironically like the mind numbing corporate speeches they quite unsubtly mock.
Also she’s alien of course she’s a fucking alien god fucking darn it man every time with this bullshit
