Deadpool & Wolverine
I guess the ending dialogue was inserted to make us a think the movie was about something. But I’m not one to lie for myself. This movie is about nothing. It is like inserting your OCs in cool scenarios first and a coherent plotline second, sprinkled in with Reddit tier commentary throughout. Of course, there is a plot here. But it’s hard to take serious when Deadpool mentions Disney a couple dozen times. I can’t exactly bring myself to get invested when the movie goes out of its way to remind you why you shouldn’t be. Logan’s arc was more coherent but it really just kinda reiterated the message of Logan again. And there is of course the state mandated all-American happy ending to wrap it all up. Marvellous (marvel joke pls laugh).
With this critique you think I wouldn’t like the movie. Well you shouldn’t think that. I’m vapid. I’n a consoomer. I’m a Redditor with over 300k karma that posted avengers memes in 2019 despite never having watched the movie. I’m exactly the type of person who this movie peddles to. I’m being entertained by jangling keys but by god are those keys shiny. I loved the soundtrack, I loved the fight scenes, I even found the humor endearing. It’s not really a masterpiece in any sense of the word. As a matter of fact i can fully understand those that came out of this experience feeling nothing but disgust. But I can really empathise with the allure to just have some OCs do cool fights while loud music blasts in the background, story be damned. If I were to make a movie, it would probably just be a worse version of this. So who I may to judge a movie for being honest with itself? At the end of the day, I enjoyed myself. As far as movies go, that’s all that really matters to me.
