Deadpool
90/100
While I think nowadays the Superhero Satire genre has become a bit convoluted and veers towards becoming the thing it was once making fun of, when critiquing this movie in the modern day I believe people don’t appreciate enough how groundbreaking Deadpool actually was for that time. I think it’s a well delivered subversion of the tropes you typically see in these types of movies, and they manage to somehow make Wayde a character you can easily empathise with despite the fact he does some objectively terrible stuff. And I think the way they handle his backstory is actually shockingly mature, and as someone who’s dealt with severe health troubles myself, I felt touched by the depiction of him learning of and dealing with his diagnosis. Overall a great superhero movie and a great comedy movie, and people are far too quick to retroactively dismiss it.
