Enemy
I adore the editing and directorial signatures, the yellow sickly tint which casts a blanket of uneasiness over the film, the awful quietness of it all. I’ve never felt so connected to the way a film is edited before, it’s so ghostly and disorientating, an element I can see myself largely taking inspiration from. Jakes performances are always unmatched, but even more so when there’s two of them. Im fascinated by media that requires you to pry for a meaning, with the notion that each person will view it from their own lens. Taking one meaning, drawing lines where they see fit, can alter and personalise someone’s perception of a film. An impactful ending, a recurring motif, and an off the charts level of ambiguity. Insanely good.
