RoboCop

Fantastic film! I could definitely see this being one of the top blockbusters of the 80s. The costuming, effects, and ideas are all peak. It’s a great critique of capitalism and military industrialization. I adore how the well film establishes its universe within the first ten minutes. It shows, not tells. The way it is all put together and edited really sells the idea. The beginning immediately draws your attention in, and holds it throughout most of the film (a couple parts felt a tad slow for me). The costuming is amazing, as are some of the special effects. Sure, the stop motion and green screens definitely show their age, but for the time I’m sure they were amazing. The set design is also fantastic. The casting is well done, I saw a few familiar faces from my favorite show Twin Peaks throughout. But the main actors are excellent, and their dialogue really makes each character unique. A lot of great quotes are scattered throughout and the writing is really well done. Overall, a very interesting and captivating plot. If I see this on Blu-Ray, well, I’d buy that for a dollar! (Probably more)
