Alien

I have to admit the first time I watched this, I didn't really care for it (I don't even think I really paid attention). After rewatching it today, I have to give this film the credit it deserves. Everything about it is perfect. The set design is absolute peak. The grungy, gross looking Nostromo interior is so unique and creative and honestly just a major breath of fresh air from all the other sci-fi films I've seen lately (looking at you Alien prequels). The visuals are just like no other, the shots linger for way longer than you expect, tricking you into thinking a jumpscare or something is gonna happen. The lighting is absolutely stunning in every single shot.The dialogue feels so natural and it helps these characters feel like real people. Ripley is such a badass in every scene. Ash is cold and discerning and I love how Ian Holm's spectacular performance gives you little hints as to who he really is.Every possible filmmaking aspect you can think of is done to perfection in this. If you haven't seen it yet, go watch it now. This film radiates aura.
