Interstellar
The movie “Interstellar” will always be regarded as one of the greatest films ever made—this isn't just an opinion; it's a straight-up FACT. I’ve always been fascinated by the mysteries of the universe and the way Christopher Nolan masterfully combines extreme physics with his style of filmmaking is simply brilliant to me. Everytime I go back and watch this movie I am still learning and discovering new details I missed, whether in the dialogue, aspects of certain planets, the concept of time, the black hole Gargantua, or certain character interactions. I swear my biggest regret regarding this movie is not being able to see it in IMAX when it was re-released last year.
Not only did the film feature great storytelling and stunning visuals/cinematography, but it also took me on a whirlwind of emotions. Nolan really showed the strong bond between Cooper and Murphy in a beautiful way through how he developed the characters. The moments between Cooper and his daughter were so powerful; I can’t even imagine the pain and loss they experienced during their separation. When he left Murphy to travel to space, when Cooper was watching years' worth of messages from his children, and when he was reunited with Murphy at the end of the film, those were the three scenes that truly brought me to tears. The interaction between Cooper and Murphy at the end was EXTREMELY heartbreaking. "No one believed me... but I knew... because my dad promised me..." 😔
I also must highlight the incredible score in this film composed by the legendary Hans Zimmer. From the very first time I watched Interstellar, I was captivated by its music. I've played the soundtrack countless times, more than I’d like to confess! It's undoubtedly one of Zimmer's finest works, and for me, the Interstellar score will always rank among the top three soundtracks of all time—it's simply flawless. It's still hard to believe that Zimmer's brilliant score didn't take home an Oscar; that’s just crazy!
Overall, Interstellar will forever be PEAK CINEMA! I believe this is Nolan's second-best movie in his filmography. To me, ‘Oppenheimer’ is his true masterpiece. Oppenheimer and Interstellar will always be my top two Nolan movies. They’re the 1A and 1B in my rankings. I will always have a deep appreciation for films like The Dark Knight, Memento, The Prestige, Tenet etc. but in my opinion, they simply can't compare to the brilliance of Interstellar and Oppenheimer.
