Brokeback Mountain
Take this as a lesson: don’t fall in love with that DL trade!!! Don’t do it!!!
On a more serious note:
A beautiful, heartbreaking story about forbidden love. From the archaic, almost primal way of showing love to the soft, tender moments between Jake and Ennis, their love never feels surface level. It’s deeply ingrained in them both and only becomes harder to handle as the years go by, eventually destroying not only themselves but the environment around them.
The final scene where Ennis blames Jack for the way his life turned out, broke me.. Ennis was too afraid to give in to himself and truly allow himself to be happy with Jack.
Beyond the romance between the two main characters, what I really loved about this movie was the way time passes. We’re not spoon fed updates that things have changed year by year! It’s shown through small, subtle moments within the scenes themselves, leaving us with a sense of whiplash and disbelief.
Overall, a strong film with amazing performances! and a surprisingly stacked cast?! (I had no idea Anne Hathaway, Kate Mara, and Linda Cardellini were in this, but I welcomed it with open arms)
Would I put myself through this pain again? Probably not lol but I’m glad I caught this gem on the big screen
