Elemental

This is an immigrant story through and through, and despite how many times we may have seen something similar or in the same vein, this movie still manages to keep it fresh and just as heartwarming (& heartbreaking at times). If I wasn’t constantly rooting for the Flame family, I was enamored by the adorable romance blooming between Ember and Wade (How do an animated flame and a constantly crying water man have more chemistry than most couples I’ve seen on film?!) I was also absolutely bawling during the emotional beats. Beyond the story, the animation in this movie is breathtaking! Truly take the time to look at the characters and notice the small details, like the movement of their elements or like the tiny bubbles in Wade’s eyes. I went into this expecting a generic story about forbidden love, but it was so much more than that! and I loved every second of it!
