Titanic
What can I say that hasn’t already been said?
A masterpiece of a film with a beautifully tragic story that will always leave me in absolute SHAMBLES!! Titanic was one of those weird hyperfixations I had as a kid, and knowing that James Cameron went to great lengths to recreate historically accurate sets fills my younger self’s heart with joy. Kate and Leo are such a perfect duo in this. The romance and love between them are perfect, and the newfound joy Jack brings to Rose (along with the subtle maturity Rose’s life brings to Jack) is just so beautifully done. You know what’s coming in the end, but every time, a part of me wishes it went differently 😭
The way the film handles the perishing of the passengers is another topic I want to touch in. There’s no beating around the bush this was a tragedy that cost the lives of so many, and Cameron approaches it with a sense of maturity showing the problems within the class system.
Titanic truly is a timeless love story and a beautifully handled retelling of a tragic moment in history.
