Hellgate

1989 ranked "Hellgate" is not much more than a mess that doesn't know what it wants to be and keeps switching between supposedly serious scenes and totally absurd and bad scenes. The premise sounds more interesting than it is in the end and the film is just strange, but not in a good way, but just in a strange way. Acting and look are pretty cheap and the characters are sometimes poorly written or make little sense. The plot is not complicated, but drifts again and again in very strange directions and paired with the acting it often provides moments that feel very absurd. This magical crystal didn't work for me either and the effects are mostly okay. It all sounds worse than it is and the film can be quite entertaining just because it is so funny and aimless.
