“There’s too many people depending on what they can get away with, what is legal and what is illegal, instead of looking at what is right and what is wrong. And the two don’t line up all too often, especially now and here.”
This is a very good documentary on environmental activism and direct action. It’s a great example of how law enforcement doesn’t exist to protect the people, but to maintain the status-quo and to protect property and capital. Seeing those pigs tear down the encampment is absolutely infuriating and the later scenes at the jail are too.
It’s very white, but they at least make attempts at intersectionality by recognizing that some of the forces behind all this are both capitalism and patriarchy and I really liked how they focused on that and called out these patriarchal structures.
“pickAxe” is inspiring and impactful documentary filmmaking. Go check it out, it’s on youtube.
