Fireworks

It was hard to tell where this was going in the start but it quickly turns into a brief but beautiful story despite its simplicity. The direction elevates this movie so much I can't imagine what it would be like if only the script was given to a different director. It's the first film I've watched from Takeshi Kitano but from this alone I'm curious of what kind of person he is and further so of what his other movies are like. I can't imagine a style like this could be iterated on a handful of times and I look forward to finding out if I'm wrong. Felt like walking through a museum. Always a treat to have Joe Hisaishi on the soundtrack too. Japanuary #8 (Takeshi Kitano)
