Your Name.
This might genuinely be one of the best films I've ever seen, best anime film for sure. I can't even describe how much I liked this.
The storyline was insane. At the start it was a little hard to follow but in the end it had all tied together perfectly. It went from confusing to everything making sense in the end.
As an example, previously in the film they emphasized the importance of twilight and later on that was the exact time of the day Mitsuha and Taki got to meet each other. Also the story on how Taki got the wrist tie. We're shown it early on but only later we learn who he got it from. He seems to not even remember it himself until he relearns it with the audience and it just creates that final tie between Mitsuhas and Takis timelines.
This whole film was SO insanely unique too. It blended so many different cool concepts like the process of time, fate and the red string theory, mixing it with the contrasting scenes of traditional and modern japanese culture. They used multiple different genres too, from romance and drama to even scifi like fantasy. I also liked how they used some unconventional storytelling techniques with the body swapping and non- linear/chronological storytelling. THIS WAS JUST SO COOL.
I also really liked the symbolism of the braided cords being a reference to how time was described in the film as well as the tie between Mitsuha and Taki.
This was executed so well too. Just the story on it's own sounds great, but the way they actually created it made it even better. Everything just flows so well and the animation is beautiful.
I loved this movie so much.
