This MIGHT just be my favorite movie. It’s definitely up there, cemented as a favorite after I’ve spent SO LONG thinking about it and rewatching obsessively. It’s got such a sleek, rich vibe to it that I eat up (no pun intended), as well as gorgeous visuals and great performances. The first thirty-or-so minutes are incredibly misleading, and the opening credits that follow are pleasing to watch (i’m not sure what that effect they use throughout the movie is called- it’s there when Noa is drugged as well as used for the credits. Nonetheless, I love it). Cannibalism is one of my favorite subjects, whether it’s used for horror and brutality or beauty and metaphor. I think this movie has a bit of both, mixing in a slightly satirical tone. The lead performances were both stellar, both having specific moments that made me feel something. I could ramble about this movie forever, but at the end of the day all that you should take from this is that I, too, would let Sebastian Stan drive me somewhere secret after only a few dates.
