Neon Genesis Evangelion
She said, "Don't let others suffer for your personal hatread."
The Hedgehog Dillemma: the hedgehog craving the warmth of another is drawn to one, yet the closer they get, the more pain they inflict on each other.
The above quote have became my mantra ever since I've rewatched this show years ago. Kasi, even though it's true that the closer we get to someone, the risk of being hurt rises, it's exactly the hatred we have within/or for ourselves that end up hurting others the most. Depressed people make themselves bleed, sometimes unaware that the same blood bleeds into how we treat others as well. "I hate myself, therefore, I hate everyone else too." Anyway, I think the core message is that, even though we risk the pain of getting hurt, we mustn't turn away from others. Because depending on how we view it, that pain might just be the price to pay on feeling love and making life-long connections. Perhaps, helping us learn to love ourselves along the way. Also, live life even in pain. Just live anyway.
