Scream
I'm Sidney fucking Prescott of course I have a gun.
Honestly, I don't know what to think of this film. I admit, this was my second attempt at seeing it. Long story short. One upon a time, at my then-friend's birthday party, I was perfidiously forced to watch it. Maybe that's why I have such bad memories of this film and, strange as it may be, it influenced my opinion of it a bit. Back then I was still scared as hell of horror movies and watching over an hour of this thing had a terrible effect on me. Back then I really didn't want to watch it because I was just scared. Then this friend told me that how can anyone be afraid of even the most unsettling horror movies. If I were still in touch with this girl, I would make her read these reviews. Luckily, I'm not anymore.
For Dewey.
Now, as for the movie, it was kind of... okay. This franchise keeps falling and rising. I don't know how they do it. If I were the creators, I'd be tired of the same old story. I really understand the phenomenon and the fact that fans want more episodes, but why bother? In my opinion, even though I liked the fourth installment, I would have ended this trilogy after the third. It's just getting boring. It's the same story over and over again, just with different killers. Because why the fuck did they make this sequel to a sequel after all these years? It could have been done without it, honestly. When I think about the fact that there are two more parts to this, I wonder if I even want to watch it. The first parts were really good and enjoyable, but then it just kept changing. Sometimes it was good, sometimes it was bad.
Jenna Ortega played the role of Tara really well. She's probably my favorite character in this movie. Jenna is a really good actress, she just stars in bad movies. But seriously, she's one of the best actresses of this time. Mikey Madison is also a very good actress. Her portrayal of Amber was wonderful. Amber was a good psychopath, but I'm tired of this "it's because of the movies" trope. It's so typical of this franchise. They could come up with something else. The fact that they all blamed each other, yet trusted each other at the same time, was kind of weird. Didn't it really just dawn on anyone that Amber was throwing a wild party "for Wes"? I understand they wanted to honor him, but they weren't even sad about his death. That's not how it's done, people, I'm begging you, just live it up.
As for Sam's character, she was really cool. The fact that she's Billy's daughter and somehow sees him in her reflection, the pressure and all, they really pulled it off well. I think her character holds up and is played really well by the actress. Gale is, as always, an icon. I honestly can't believe they killed off Dewey... I loved his character. He's been through so much that instead of letting him rest, they killed him off. It's so unfunny. It's such a shame. I'm so sorry about Gale. Honestly, she's been through so much too. And Sidney, that's just the way it is. She finally found peace, until some idiotic couple disturbs it again. Leave her alone.
This part was also a bit more graphic, and it shows. The murder scenes were more graphic. Especially Dewey's murder. In fact, the whole scene in the hospital... It was complete carnage. That opening scene was also... One of the best, if not the best. Jenna did a fantastic job in that scene. Seriously, she's a wonderful actress. The murder scenes were so... Maybe a little scary. This part was brutal, but not the worst. I also feel like it was a cash grab. The great return of the Scream after all these years.
