Normal People
"Normal People" is a raw and honest depiction of contemporary young love. An intricate exploration of the impact of trauma in a relationship, where each layer - whether of intimacy, friendship, grief, depression, addiction, and so much more - comes together to create an image of beautiful simplicity.
I often found myself thinking about the circumstances the couple found themselves in and in how simple it would be to fix their issues. It was only later as the series developed that I realized just how similar my past romantic experiences were and it made me put things into perspective in a good way (a nice reminder of everything doesn't have to be that deep all the time).
The cinematography is solid, but the pacing isn't the most well balanced one and the series does become slightly repetitive, especially for a limited series. And although slightly anticlimactic, the ending does make a lot of sense and it felt right to see the characters finally at peace with themselves and each other to the point they know they must follow different paths and they’re okay with that.
