Bugonia
This movie is one of the most intriguing movies I’ve watched this year, this movie lays out what it wants you to think it’s about from the very beginning, plays into its simplicity of its story for almost the entire movie, and then just completely subverts every expectation that was set and it completely blew my mind
The gore from this movie is very powerful and is used sparingly and effectively, any more would just be terrible and any less I feel wouldn’t have as much impact for me. For me it really emphasized that this movie was tied in reality before revealing what’s actually happening.
The cinematography was beautiful, the lighting and colors were very well done.
However, they decided to keep the film spool slots in the bottom of the frame, which felt weird to me. It felt like an attempt to appeals towards the “film aesthetic” which I just think is an insult to the film that was shot.
I think I need to rewatch it
