Normal People
Look at me a second. No one is ever gonna hurt you like that again. Everything’s gonna be all right, trust me. Cause I love you, and I’m not gonna let anything like that happen to you again.
OMG! this pleasantly surprised me. After postponing watching it for so long, I finally dared to watched it and I absoloutely ADORE it.
Normal people is a rollercoaster of emotions. As the episodes went by, I found myself thinking I couldn't shed any more tears, but I was mistaken. Clearly, I could. I would go from laughter to tears in a matter of seconds, and I found myself frustrated when they did stupid things that could be fixed but they didn't even try, out of fear of facing reality or opening up emotionally.
One thing I love is the way it portrays truly human characters. It doesn't give us perfect characters, but rather regular people with their imperfections, doubts, and complexities. Many people might find this boring, but quite the opposite, thanks to this, you can find yourself more connected to them by realizing that you may have gone through some or many similar situations.
And that's why my connection with the show intensifies. They've managed to write a character so real, that they've basically described me. I identify so much with Connell that it seems like they've interviewed me and then put me on paper. I don't think anyone can understand how much I resemble him. He is literally me.
Another thing I love about the series is how it shows that a couple with poor communication will not have a future. No matter how much they know they are meant for each other, they will never make it.
I love this series, but I doubt I'll be able to watch it again. At least not in the near future.
