This was silly. More guns were thrown than shot. Don’t really know what to write for this one, there are some redeeming qualities but for the most part I’m left feeling like…what did I just watch. Fun brain rot movie that somehow has insane set design and good cinematography. I did have fun.

I honestly don’t want to like this movie cause yall are SICK. But yeah it was good… First I’ll say the comedy was great and perfectly balanced with the horror elements which made sense given the style. Also made this movie enjoyable!! The set design and colors were absolutely beautiful, you really do feel like you’re inside a kid’s imagination. And also, what a daring concept! Make all the leads children and get this, it’s a horror movie. And somehow, because it is sickly rooted in a child’s imagination, it works. I think they used horror elements perfectly. It’s absurd, it’s funny, it’s disturbing, and it actually means something. As for the critiques, it’s almost like they were worried people wouldn’t get it, so the metaphor becomes redundant. I understand it’s a surreal horror concept, but after halfway in, I get the movie already. The movie does a great job building up to the horror, but when you actually get to it, it loses its bearings. The ending could’ve been at least 15 minutes shorter and it still would’ve wrapped the movie perfectly well. Also the references to the real world were a little too obvious. I know it’s supposed to hit close to home, but not at the cost of its originality. After writing this review I’d say it deserves a solid 7/10. Very well done and I am properly disturbed. Also a wild concept that I appreciate they didn’t shy away from. Thanks.

Just so you know this is exactly how it feels to live in flagstaff. This would’ve been an amazing short film, I don’t see why it had to be a feature. Beautiful cinematography and the intense moments hit! Some fun comedy in there, and interesting characterization. But after the first 30 minutes it lost me. I mean really not a lot happened. A good metaphor for life does not mean a good movie. Once again, the cinematography perfectly matches the intentions in each scene, but did every scene need to happen? No. The entire movie didn’t need to be in the car. While I understand there wasn't escalation to give the impression of the endlessness, that doesn’t mean there couldn’t have been an escalation of tension between the group, or despair, or hopelessness. Still a 4/10 because I enjoyed many parts and can still see the team behind the project did great. Only wish the writing went in a different direction.

I can definitely appreciate the freak shit that they just let loose in this film. But at the same time what did I just watch. I don’t care about some wild stuff happening but I am just confused. Am I dumb… Anyways I’m sorry to my roommates bc what the hell was all this breathy theatre acting every second. Like guys why are we screaming! Calmmmmmmmm It’s important to note I did watch this with a migraine.
