Roofman
As a Gen Z kid, I used to watch a lot of “staying overnight in Toys “R” Us at 3AM” videos, and watching Roofman reminded me of that.
Let’s start with the negatives. The film feels slow-paced, and I think if they trimmed about 20 minutes and focused more on the Toys “R” Us storyline, it could have been a masterpiece. The church scenes were important for developing his character, but they didn’t really work for me personally. I also wish there had been more action involving the McDonald’s robberies.
On the positive side, I really loved the use of internal monologue—it was by far one of the most interesting and engaging aspects of the film. I also can’t believe that almost everything in this movie is true. The tone is dark, but it blends humor and drama in a way that I found really effective.
One of the main reasons I rate this film so highly is because I actually felt bad for him. Despite all the wrong he has done, he still tries to be a good person and make the people around him happy. Every character feels well-developed and has their own struggles. Channing Tatum delivers an excellent performance, and the cinematography is solid not the best but not the worst. If you love Toys R us and Channing Tatum I would recommend this movie
