Hamnet
“Look at me.”This is truly the most beautiful film I’ve seen this year. It’s such a delicate and precious story to me.
William couldn’t be there when his son died, and for almost a year he searched for him — just as he searched for Agnes’s forgiveness. In the end, he found both in the most beautiful way: by making his son’s soul eternal and alive through a play.
When he says goodbye to the character of Hamlet, I felt everything. It was as if he still couldn’t emotionally let go of his son, and in the way he left the stage, he showed exactly that — that he would return to the world, but his son would always live on for him within the work he created.
And not to mention Agnes and William… they truly revived romance. The love they showed each other felt so pure.
I watched it twice, and I cried both times.
