Demolition
beautiful and maybe more now after watching it again.. i can write 10 paragraphs on this, but i think i will settle with 5. future happy looking back to maybe remember all the details as to why i love this film so much; here are some out of many..
the way this film shows Jake dealing with grief.. after the loss, him realizing that Julie was right and that he never really paid that much attention to things and then letting curiosity take over him is so.. the way he destroys to take out his pain and open things up to kill his curiosity but never opened up himself to express., everything but dealing with the actual pain of his is kinda sad but real.
Jake told himself that he did not love her to not let the pain get to him, only for him to see her in every place again and again and then to finally accept that he did love her, and in fact a lot.
"there was love between me and julia. i just didn't take care of it"
the first time i see him really letting his real feelings take over him and sob.. he smiles through the tears, but we know now that he is overwhelmed by emotions that he had kept for the entire film.
the last 9 minutes. possibly the most beautiful, the music, and the things he does for her at the place that she loves the most, sharing the moment with her parents and putting smiles on kids' faces turns out to be so beautiful that i couldn't help but cry. and the very last scene ties everything perfectly; it's so personal i love this film so much.
