Oh Pedro, I know I should be happy for the couple in the end but I just want to see Pedro happy 😭
This was a terrific film though and subverted a lot of expectations. I have to say though as a film geek, the cinematography was on point.
My favorite was the contrast between the shot-reverse shots when Dakota was doing her matchmaking, the lens and shot was completely clear, very business like. However, in the ending scene, when Chris and Dakota were outside Sophie’s apartment, the lenses were fish-eye, anamorphic lenses.
To me, this was meant to show how love went from being about math (clear, concise) to feeling (ethereal, makes no sense, just feel it).
And I think that was the overall point of the film, love isn’t a business transaction, it doesn’t make sense. It’s a feeling. And the cinematography and directing drove that home.
Excellent!
