“You have no power over me.” Watched this movie as a kid and still holds up, I actually appreciate it more now. * David Bowie is just so iconic here, every scene he’s in is pure presence. The set design is insane and the costumes are on another level, it feels like a fully realised world you can get lost in. Every character is memorable, from the goblins to Hoggle and Ludo*, nothing feels wasted. Jim Henson was such a talent at creating worlds like this. You can feel the care and creativity in every frame. This is exactly why practical effects will always be goated and should be used more often today, it just has more soul and charm than CGI ever could. A timeless fantasy that’s definitely weird but my god rewatchable. 🧌
