Steve
Life is chaotic, and most people are carrying things you can’t see. We live in broken systems that fail again and again, and Steve never pretends everything gets fixed, because it doesn’t.
It really hits on identity too. Even the word “teacher” carries so much pressure, like you’re supposed to have all the answers and never get it wrong. But no one is perfect, so what are you left with when the answers run out?
Instead, the film reminds you that compassion still matters, even when everything feels like it’s falling apart. It stays in that raw, uncomfortable space and doesn’t look away.
Cillian Murphy is one of the best out there and completely kills it in this, although maybe it’s time he picks something a bit more light-hearted next.
Highly recommend.
