Arrival
Wow. Absolutely blew away my expectations. I never thought I was a big sci fi guy but every-time I watch the genre I end up liking what I see. Arrival I loved. It takes you through so many emotions, highs/lows, and is just a breath taking concept that I feel like you could relate to anything. The film is so thought provoking, so many questions about what I would do in her place or how I should feel about this "gift" that was bestowed upon humanity. I thoroughly enjoyed the linguistics aspect as well as that has always been a subject I'm intrigued by. I saw a lot of reviews calling this moving a slow burner, but I honestly never felt it drag. I'm giving it a 4.5 but its damn close to perfect. Dennis Villeneuve is a genius film maker.
Edit: Had this at a 4.5 but I think about it way too much to not make it a 5.
