Aftersun
i just rewatched aftersun.
this time on the big screen,
and somehow it hit way harder than the first time.
i guess knowing what’s coming made even every small moment ache a little more.
it’s like watching memories fade while wishing you could reach through the screen and hold onto them.
it genuinely shattered me in ways i didn’t think it could anymore.
maybe because i saw more of myself in calum,
in the way he hides his heaviness behind a soft smile,
in how he tries to make everything feel okay even when it’s not.
watching it again felt like holding up a mirror i didn’t want to look into.
every small silence, every flicker of tenderness, carried a weight i recognized.
and maybe that’s what aftersun is about.
it’s about how fragile it is to love someone,
how impossible it is to remember them exactly as they were,
and how sometimes, we only begin to understand them once they’re already gone.
