Superman

“Your choices, your actions, that's what makes you who you are.” Wow. Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Such a great start to this new DC universe! Wonderful acting all around, and casting here was phenomenal. To start with the positives: The cast pour so much of themselves into these roles, and feel like not just an idea like previous incarnations, but actually like the characters they were cast to portray. They aren’t an idol on a pedestal just there to deconstruct, but people who have lived. James wrote a solid script, and really made sure that this movie felt like a comicbook come to life while still maintaining that same Gunn style of storytelling. And for the negatives: a few pacing issues, and a few shots that were just distracting towards the end that could have been solved with different lighting. Both are minor gripes in a movie that handled everything else so well.  Overall the only thing stopping this from being a 5/5 is another rewatch. I loved this movie, and it gives me hope (get it?) in the future of this DC universe. Time to FINALLY move on from the Nolan & Snyder foundation that has plagued DC since 2006.
