“What we do in life, echos in eternity” There’s a clip of Russell Crowe talking about filming the first scene with Ridley Scott where he has Crowe look at a bird as it’s flying away before he brings his focus back down to what’s in front of him. I love that scene and that clip because as insignificant as it might seem, it’s done with such intention and purpose, and I think that encapsulates this whole film perfectly. The magic that flows throughout the whole film is nothing short of extraordinary. Maximus is one of the most tragic and beautiful characters ever put to screen. His journey never fails to make me feel something.
