Eddington
you’re reading this review on a screen in your hand.
the same screen that funnels immeasurable hours of content into your eyes, processed by your brain, filtered through your emotions, biases, assumptions, and desires.
this review was served to you.. or you sought it out. either way, you’re here now. in a few moments it’ll be something else: a photo of your ex with their new partner on instagram. a budget-friendly recipe for dinner while you're waiting for your next paycheck to clear. a self-help guru promising five easy steps to heal trauma. a meme. a social tragedy unfolding somewhere halfway across the world, or in your own city.
what do you do with it? do you even notice it? ignore it? dwell on it? does repeated exposure grow unnoticed over time, exacerbating old insecurities or creating new ones?
i posted my 1.5 star review of superman on my tiktok. it got 35k views and over 1k comments. an innocent agitation-post success. but on the flip side, some random throwaway account messaged me wishing harm on my cats, who are shown in other videos on my profile.
eddington takes that very same energy and multiplies it by infinity.
it shows how personal conflict, agitated by overwhelming information at your fingertips, and real-world tragedy all snowball into unpredictable chaos. it’s a petri dish. a powder keg. a modern retelling of the classic twilight zone episode "the monsters are due on maple street" using a still-simmering real-world hot button event as its backdrop to great effect.
