Deep Red

Watched the 4k print in theaters at the Gene Siskel center. Wow it was amazing to finally see this in theaters! My 5th viewing. The 4k restoration is spectacular! The best out of the prints I’ve seen these past couple days. It almost looks like it was shot today but still retains it’s 70s charm. Every frame in this film feels like a painting. All the shots are masterfully done with great camera movements. I love how this film focuses on the mystery aspects rather than the kills. Not saying the kills are bad they are really great but Argento really shines in his storytelling here. This is my first time seeing the export version I think although my first viewing might have been this version. It was on prime video years and years ago so I don’t really remember. My final thoughts are mostly how this film gets better with each watch and is infinitely rewatchable as you notice new details every time.
