The Escapees

I didn’t expect this to have such an impact on me. I feel that Michéle and Marie are like the two halves of myself. One is compassionate but scared, shy and repressed, while the other is bold, arrogant, and adventurous. These two sides of me are always fighting and finding balance with each other much like Marie and Michéle in the film. The ending of this had me sobbing. I think my personal emotional connection is to blame but also I’m not discrediting the immense emotional power the film has. I’m debating if this is my #1 of all time. I think for now Rollin’s other film Two Orphan Vampires will stay at the top but this is definitely number two. Sorry chill factor.
