12 Angry Men
Easily a masterpiece and masterclass in filmmaking and directing just as much as story telling which it is known for.
Everything is perfect from the slightly unmotivated lighting towards faces to show their background attitude and consensus. Blocking as power structures who has “the talking piece” and where they stand in the room mentally. As well as world class camera angles in some of the most inventive ways like the closet shot in the ending. The performances were fantastic juror 3’s monologue had me glued to the screen the entire time. Henry Fonda boy what an actor he was conscious of the camera and audience the entire time he knew when to hold out, shy away, walk slow, advance threateningly and all in alignment to look like a dance on the screen.
Some of the best editing the cutaways are very creative one of my favorites is the knife we could zoom in closer and see the knife when the second knife gets thrown into the table. But no the moment the point hits the table and he moves his hand cut to the reaction in a wide it’s brilliant.
As well as pointed out the biggest injustice of all which is bias easily destroyed as we have seen by human kindness.
