Maria
I'm not very familiar with the works of Maria Callas, but I'm definitely familiar with Angelina Jolie and she was a goddess in this. The elegance she exhaled and the sorrowful stillness she brought to Maria's soul. The story of a beautiful woman who took over the world with her angelic voice, and yet, she was deeply lonely. Almost poetic, in a way. A woman that felt too much, lived and breathed on a stage, but was seen and understood so poorly. The star that everyone worshipped, but no one truly saw. The color grading in this film is gorgeous, vivid beyond imagination but deeply heavy in its wistfullness. Maria lived surrounded by richness and adoration, but lived trapped inside of her yearning for something that never was.
It was a beautiful way to tell her story.
