serious film of the year contender just a masterclass in direction… have no idea why guadagnino isn’t sweeping these directing categories. It’s utterly captivating with such an electrifying score. every choice from guadagnino was so deliberate and well-crafted. i am still picking up on parallels between the movie’s three central dyads. watching that tie break for the first time in the theater was honestly one of the best movie moments of my life. two hours of tension exploded on the court, and the pulsing score and eccentric editing just made it so you couldn’t look away. i’ve never felt such a rush from cinema like that, and i don’t think there has been a movie that i just wanted to talk about nonstop for 48 hours after i saw it. there was so much to unpack from that high.
