Interstellar
This is one of those films I just adore, and think always will.
It’s also one of those films I was fortunate enough to see for the first time, in cinema around a year ago, and when yet another cinema showing appeared, it was an offer I couldn’t refuse.
This is my favourite of Nolan’s filmography - the man I deem greatest filmmaker of this century. Interstellar is coated in ambition. Arguably Nolan’s most ambitious in the aspect of how much it strives for, and due to its undisputed soaring in all departments, that’s why I find it his best work.
There’s so much this film stands on the podium for, his most impressive, and a factor I’m very appreciative of - most emotional. It would’ve been very easy to direct this, not heartlessly, but in a colder fashion. However, just as the film unravels such a story with love literally taken to heart, so does the direction. Not all sci-fi films with such scope, vastness in visual ambition, can keep such a matter of compelling emotion centre stage.
