La Haine

Holy shit. I don’t know what was going through my head at the start of this year when I decided to give this film a rating lower than perfection - because that’s what it is. Perfection. La Haine is a masterpiece which holds its tagline so integrally to the story, they become inseparable. It’s really a literal ticking time bomb. As the day passes, as the hours go by, as one minute turns to the next; this metaphoric societal fall was all leading up to something, and the landing gave cinema one of its most powerful endings of all time, as speechless as it may leave you.
