Taxi Driver

I’m a firm believer that De Niro’s performance as Travis Bickle is one of the greatest of all time, and a contender for De Niro’s career best - impressive, as I find him to be my favourite actor. Nevertheless, what Scorsese crafted here, goes down as a cinematic highlight. A story so entwined in its setting, creating an atmosphere inseparable from the film, one which the protagonist meanders through. Taxi Driver displays a lot to be adored, a fascinating character study, incredible direction from someone just at the start of their game, resulting in one of the finest films of all time.
