RawCames Jameron10.0· October 24, 2024FollowRaw has been one of the most deliciously thrilling horror watches this October. At it’s core Raw is a coming of age story told from the perspective of Justine, a prodigy and first year student at a prestigious veterinary academy. This film speaks volumes and I had a visceral experience watching it. The first 15 minutes illustrates that drowning feeling and how overwhelmed Justine feels trying to fit in so well. Garance Marillier plays Justine in such a vulnerable and charming way and added so much life to the brutal overtone of this film. I kinda wanted root for her and her eventual cravings. The body horror was so so great, and I thought the timing of everything was perfect. My favourites were the finger obviously, and when we see the roommates leg revealed and a chunk was taken out. I couldn’t keep my eyes off the screen as this story unfolded, just when I thought I knew where the story was going it’d take a slightly different turn. The ending was pretty sick too, and honestly learning that this trait is hereditary is kinda the biggest scare of the film. Provoking and jarring Raw is a film that will gnaw on you after watching. Gruesomely crafted, and in some ways tender I absolutely think this film is a feat.CommentsSign in to react and join the conversation.Sign inGet the appSee all Cames' reviews for Raw (2)First watch10.0October 24, 2024Rewatch 110.0April 7, 2025
