Death Note
A cat and mouse game of epic proportions, Death Note pits the maniacal genius Light Yagami against those that stand in the way of his misguided attempt to create a utopia free of wrongdoing.
While the latter episodes falter a bit after the death of L, undoubtedly one of, if not the best character in the series, the finale still provides a fitting and strangely poetic end to Light and his pursuit of twisted justice.
Watching Light and L, and later on Light and Near, playing third dimensional chess makes for one of the most engrossing investigative dramas I’ve ever seen.
And all this goes without mentioning Ryuk, the perfect opposite of Light and his self-seriousness, this god of death has no stakes in the events which ensues, and serves as a perfect comedic relief, but also valuable asset to the plot and its characters.
All in all, I would say Death Note (besides Attack On Titan) is my favorite anime’s series, and one I would love to see again someday.
