BLUE EYE SAMURAI
"I don't need to be great, I just want to be happy."
The series began beautifully with its ambitious animation, enchanting soundtrack, and interesting characters that kept me wanting to see more. For an animated show, this is definitely competent and it dares to show the raw profanity which presents itself as something that is not to be consumed from the eyes and mind of a child. I mean to say, this should be absorbed as a work of art.
While everything else seemed perfect, most importantly the characterization of Mizu and her chemistry with the entire cast, the story somehow fell in the end. It built up for nine episodes only for the finale to be anti-climactic. It was definitely a huge let-down albeit it might have been intended for the viewers to anticipate a sequel. Even so, I still feel like this series could be a masterpiece with only one season. Another seems totally unnecessary and dragged.
There are still a lot of areas left unexplored which also makes it feel even more unpolished but hopefully this can be fulfilled in the following season. I'll be looking forward to it with faith.
Overall, it's still definitely something that I would recommend to someone. I'm very happy to be alive where the world is experiencing animated media in its glory. Alongside Arcane and the new Spider-Verse movies, Blue Eye Samurai seems to fill a close spot.
