Lost Highway
I know this is only my first viewing, but this might be one of the greatest things I have ever seen. I am not exaggerating. It's impossible to explain or put into words what this movie made me feel or what even happened in the film for that matter. But, it made me feel something unbelievable that I just cannot explain. I don’t know, there was just something about it felt so personal. Almost like Lynch was there peeling back all of my layers and finding each and every one of my insecurities and anxieties. This film made me deeply emotional, while also exhilarating me beyond belief. It had absolutely haunting imagery scattered throughout that deeply disturbed me. The constant character swaps and plot twists kept me on the edge of my seat. I don’t think I could explain this movie even if I tried, but everything that happened made so much sense to me, even though I didn’t understand it fully. That probably made no sense at all either. Can you tell I’m struggling to write a review for this? Anyway, the soundtrack is absolutely incredible, a mixture of dark, frightening music to electrifying rock music. It was tonally jarring but felt so necessary. There is really nothing I can fault here. The direction is incredible and the writing is just unbelievable. Wow, this David Lynch guy is pretty good!
5/5.
