Superman
A film that truly gets Superman. This character has meant the world to me for as long as I can remember and this movie perfectly captures everything I love about him and why he was such an important part of my childhood. Superman isn’t just a hero in a cape. He’s a friend, a symbol of hope, and a reminder of the best parts of humanity, even though he’s not human himself. He’s kind, optimistic, and has an unwavering commitment to doing what’s right, no matter how hard things get.
Thank you, James Gunn. Truly. This film treats Superman with the same sincerity and respect that Sam Raimi brought to Spider-Man in his trilogy. The whole cast was outstanding. They brought these iconic characters to life with so much heart. I loved every new face we met, like Hawkgirl, Mr. Terrific and Guy Gardner. Each one had so much personality and were genuinely fun to watch.
David Corenswet is Superman. He embodies all the qualities I mentioned above and he does it with such likeability and sincerity that you can’t help but fall in love with his version of this character already. The cinematography is gorgeous, the costume design is great (I’m so glad they kept the trunks!), and the script is amazing, full of genuine care for who Superman is and what he stands for. There’s just so much life and heart in this film. It’s beautiful in every sense of the word. I honestly don’t know how to put into words how much this character means to me. Maybe more than I even realise.
So thank you, James Gunn. Thank you for giving us a Superman who inspires, who uplifts, and who reminds us all that there’s still good worth fighting for.
WE ARE SO BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
