Waves
If I had the choice to credit any movie to myself, it would be Waves. Every creative decision, casting, cinematography, soundtrack, and scenery...feels like something I would have chosen myself. It’s as if the film reflects an unspoken vision I’ve always had but never realized until now. Using multiple soundtracks from the visual album "Endless" by Frank Ocean is totally something I'd do.
The second half, following Emily, is what makes Waves feel even more personal to me. The shift from chaos to stillness, from overwhelming noise to quiet reflection, is so seamless yet so profound. It’s in the way the camera lingers on her, how the colors soften, and how the soundtrack becomes more intimate. It captures grief not as a singular moment, but as something that lingers and reshapes you. And in that stillness, there’s also renewal, love creeping back in, the tentative steps toward healing, the weight of the past still present but no longer suffocating. The film doesn’t force this change, it unfolds naturally, as if life itself is gradually settling into a new rhythm, exhaling after holding its breath for too long.
I really did take my time with this particular rewatch, it wasn't like any of the others, I analyzed this film frame by frame and took over 700 screenshots for god knows what reason, I'm truly appreciative for this magnificent piece of art. And one last thing...Taylor Russell, I love you with all my heart!
